Breastfeeding offers not only benefits for baby, but also benefits to the nursing mother. Studies show that moms who successfully breastfeed their babies have lower bouts of post-partum depression, improved overall blood pressure, lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes, and lower risk of developing both breast and ovarian cancers (CDC, 2020). Babies who were breastfed have lower incidences of obesity, type 1 diabetes, severe asthma, ear infections, sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), and gastrointestinal infections (CDC, 2020).
Rachael offers 1 hour breastfeeding counseling sessions and can help with the following:
- Painful latch
- Low milk supply
- Pumping and return to work
- Correct positioning at the breast
- Supplementing and increasing milk supply
- Breastfeeding multiples
- Engorgement and oversupply
- Breastfeeding in the first few weeks and importance of on demand feeding
